Air Conditioning/ Climate Control Installation

Beside ensuring comfortable working conditions and managing high temperatures in the summer months, this upgrade will ensure tight tolerances. A consistent temperature means more constant, accurate measurements can be taken.

New Machines Added to our Factory

A new DMG MORI NTX1000 Mill Turn has been added to complement our well-equipped Mill-Turn facilities. Also added isa Renishaw Equator-X CMM which significantly improves our inspection capacity. We continue to invest in new machinery to increase our manufacturing capacity as we grow.

Relocation, Expansion and Refurbishment of De-burr & Packing Department

A total refurbishment of Walls, Floor and Ceilings, Climate Control has been undertaken. A Hatch Window has been installed between Inspection to Deburr Department for Finished parts to be passed through. This area is also an extended Packing Area located next to Goods Out door providing a better flow throughout the Factory.

Expansion and Refurbishment of Quality Inspection Department

The Inspection Department has been extended by a further 50% in floor space. It has also been modernised with the addition of New Cabinets and Worktops, New Tables and CMM. Furthermore, a total refurbishment has been undertaken, including new walls, floor, ceilings & climate control.

2025 News Roundup

2025 was an exciting and dynamic year for us, with the opening of our brand new offices and our growth in response to increasing demand. This has been driven by the values we uphold: hard work, dedication and the aim to consistently deliver exceptional quality. During the year, we continued to forge a prosperous path forward grounded in excellence and an unyielding focus on customer satisfaction.

A significant milestone in 2025 was the opening of our new offices. This development reflected not just our commercial growth but also our unwavering commitment to enhancing our capabilities and services for our valued customers.

Aerospace & Defence Sector Expansion

We were thrilled to facilitate our expansion to meet the increasing demand from existing customers and new business development opportunities within the Aerospace & Defence Industry.

New Machine Purchases

Our growth has allowed us to upscale and add new, more efficient machinery. This benefits our operational efficiency and allows CSS to react to and accept more intricate, complex and dimensional critical parts. New machine additions in 2025 included a the installation of a DMG MORI NTX2500. This allowed us to service specific customer requirements, increase capacity and free up capacity on regular turning and milling processes.

Apprenticeship Scheme

Aligned with our strategic vision, we have onboarded 4 new apprentices for 2025, reinforcing a strong foundation for future growth and innovation. This addition complements our existing team of apprentices at various career stages, showcasing our dedication to nurturing talent.

2020-2025 Insights

The first five years of the 2020’s saw significant investment in our facilities, including the addition of several machines. These machines have become integral to the services we offer and the quality we are able to provide to our customers. Read more about these below.

We also recruited more experienced CNC Milling and Turning machine operators. This allowed us to efficiently manufacture parts for several new high-volume contracts that had been awarded to us. Meanwhile, multiple apprentices were recruited, to ensure we have a well-trained and experienced workforce for the future.

DMG Mori NLX 2000/500

This turning machine from DMG was added in 2021, greatly increasing our milling capacity and kickstarting an expansion of our milling and mill-turn facilities.

Sylvac Scanner is - Optical machine designed to measure static ot dynamic round parts with diameters up to- Ø0.2 ÷ 64mm and length up to 500mm. "Most of the cylindrical parts, such as aerospace and automotive shafts and components, connectors, dental screws and implants, hydraulics parts, metal packaging for food and cosmetics, rollers, turbines parts, CNC turned parts, etc. can be measured in a few seconds. Various thread types and features can be measured and analyzed with our machines. All Sylvac-Scan machines incorporate high resolution line-scan cameras, which would correspond to a 200 megapixel camera! Using the green LED illuminator to project a collimated beam of light across the part, the part is scanned at speeds up to 100mm/s, whilst the contour of the part is collected through the high precision bi-telecentric lens system and the projected image is detected and processed using the latest line-scan camera technology. The contour of the workpiece is reproduced on the software and all the various elements shown can be measured in static (without part rotation) or in dynamic (with part rotation) when geometrical features such as run-out or concentricity must be measured."

Sylvac Scanner & Boxford Laser Engraver

Added in 2023, the Sylvac Scanner is an Optical machine designed to measure static of dynamic round parts . This allows in a reduction of turnaround times and increasing confidence for Machine Operators.

Also added in 2023, the Boxford Laser Engraver added another in-house service. Crucially, it also allowed us to offer more competitive pricing, bypassing the more costly option of subcontracting.

5-Axis & Mill-turn Additions

2024 saw the addition of a new 5 axis CNC Milling Machine- the DMG DMU 40 Evo Linear), Fully Automated with Palletization(35 Pallets). We also added our first Mill Turn machine- the DMG NTX 2000 Mill Turn. This opened new opportunities for us, in the services we are able to offer to our customers and kickstarted the development of our Mill-Turn facilities.

MAKINO U6 Heat Extreme Wire (EDM)

An exciting addition in 2024, was the MAKINO U6 Heat Extreme EDM Wirer. Using an innovative coating, this high-tech wire allows for top cutting speed at a reduced wire speed. This opened up possibilities for us to gain contracts in new markets to us and added to our portfolio of services and capabilities.

Contract Solutions was formed in August 2006 with a vision to fill the void in the high quality end of the precision engineering market. Starting with a small collection of machines, accompanied by a wealth of machining experience, the business has rapidly grown and developed sustainably in the last 20 years. Take a look back in time with these photographs showing the initial conversion and installation of our factory premises.
